One of the best ways to find out about “Traveling” in these economic times is to “talk” with experienced travelers and travel agents. The second Monday each month, the “Travel Leaders” office is hosting a Lunch & Fun time to meet a specific travel vendor, enjoy a lite lunch and find out about current travel bargains and incentives from travelers and agents.
Santa Clarita’s Travel Leaders (formerly Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Granary Square) are advising many people to take advantage of current travel deals – among the most enticing seen in years – and make their value stretch even further.
“As challenging as the current economic climate may be, it is providing a bonanza of savings for most of our clients who remain in a position to travel,” noted the agents at the Travel Leaders office. There are key questions worth considering to gain even more value in the 2009 economic market.
• Beyond price reductions, are there any incentives, such as free air, free days, two-for-one or cabin upgrade offers currently available? Are you flexible on dates or even time of day when traveling?
• Are you flexible on which airports you might consider flying in and out of? Because not every airport has the same airline service, you may find less expensive flights simply by changing to one a little farther from home or your actual destination.
• Are you willing to fly on a charter carrier or on a low-cost airline? You may need to forego frills, ranging from advance seat selection to free baggage handling, but you could save in the process.
• Are you willing to fly using a consolidator? You may not receive frequent flyer miles, but you could save substantial sums of money, even on business and first class international seats.
• Are you able to take advantage of tour packages that can combine practically everything from air, hotel and car rentals to sightseeing activities?
• Are you looking to pay one upfront price that either an all-inclusive resort or cruise can offer?
• Are you able to drive to your originating port of call?
• Are you intent on driving versus flying?
Travel Leaders can answer these and any other travel-related questions you may have.
