… a room we want to feel relaxed in, comfortable and perhaps even inspired.  There are many of us who use our bedroom as a second office, with both coffee cup and laptop balancing on the sheets as we work… still in our pajamas.

It’s a room that color often has to agree and appeal to more than one person, and that color has to work in both night (artificial light) and morning light (natural light) with the same satisfaction — a tall order as color and mood are so affected by light.  However, there are some carefully selected colors here that should meet most tastes, remembering though that all of these suggestions can then be personalized with how they are accented.  Color, like our bedrooms, is about the balance of relationships.

For a tranquil, warm mood, try a soft coral, sometimes less appealing in concept to men, but anchored with black hardware for the drapery and crisp white bedding, it is very intimate and classic.

The soft sage blue/greens are also a quiet and appealing color.  Again, accent with crisp white bedding and a softer white trim.  Try and venture a little bolder into darker versions of these blue/greens, but keep on the muted side.

To keep within the classic neutrals, the taupe family is the most appealing.  Taupe and these neutrals can range greatly from more honey-like tones into the cafe latte browner palettes.  All serve well with white trim and darker accents, be it wood flooring, darker-colored bedding or bronze-toned furniture pieces.

Last but not least, try a simple but highly distinguished ivory – warm, light and airy.  Not white, as that tends to be too sterile and austere in a bedroom, ivory serves those who love textiles, allowing the color to be brought in colorful patterned bedding and window treatments, and the walls to be a backdrop.

Color is what transforms your bedroom into something personal.  It’s like putting your signature on the walls.  It speaks to you and it communicates to those who enter.  Whatever your preference, we at Allbright Painting have a tool that will help you determine your signature color.  It’s called Colorchoice.  Come in today for your free evaluation.  If you like what you see, you can test your results by ordering a few sample quarts.
