LARC Ranch is currently looking for sponsors for its annual fundraiser, scheduled for Sunday, September 13 at LARC Ranch. This year’s event will feature the smooth sounds of the Tom Nolan Orchestra, regulars at Rusty’s on the Santa Monica Pier, where they have been in residence for 15 years. Lunch and refreshments begin at 1 p.m. and the concert is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. A limited number of sponsorship packages are still available at $2,000 with varying levels of media and event exposure.
Nestled in the countryside of the Santa Clarita Valley, are the 65 acres of LARC Ranch, which is celebrating its 50th year. LARC Ranch is dedicated to helping developmentally disabled adults thrive through a variety of programs, providing residential and day programs to over 105 residents and day programs services to both its residents and to day clients that live at home. LARC provides an optimum lifestyle for its residents within an exceptional home-style environment and places importance on recreation and socialization. However, LARC needs your help in order to keep their doors open! Due to the current California budget crises, they have taken a three percent permanent funding cut, which amounts to $100,000 currently, with a probable funding cut of 7.1 percent come September. There is also $234 million that still needs to be cut, but no one knows where and when that will happen. In an effort to keep jobs and benefits in tact, LARC has cut back hours in both residential and day programs, as well as a variety of items from their regular budget.
Today, the LARC Ranch Villa Community, Ruth and Allen Ziegler campus is a self-contained community of 13 individual villas. Additional facilities include the ADC day program, an auditorium, a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, a sports park with a picnic area and a newly renovated pavilion and amphitheater for evening movie viewing and summertime musical entertainment. LARC maintains a community-based work program in Canyon Country and a HUD home in the community for higher functioning individuals.
It is LARC Ranch’s mission to serve this very special population with dignity and respect and see that all special individuals are afforded the equality of services entitled to them through the Lanterman Acts.
The cost of the event is $125 per adult, $50 for children ages five to 13, or a package price of $325 per family. All proceeds benefit the LARC Foundation. For more information or to reserve your spot today, please call 661-296-8636 extension 219.
