Separate the sprinkler system so the grass areas are on separate valves from the shrub areas, the sun areas from the shade, the slope areas from the flat. Water is a precious commodity here in Southern California and a successful garden will depend on a good irrigation system. At this point you will finish grade the soil, roll with a water roller to firm up the subsoil and order your sod for delivery. Sod lawns must be installed upon delivery, it is a perishable item and timing is critical. Start on a straight edge like a sidewalk and go from there.
