I find it amazing that in a world where technology abounds and every kind of convenience exists to make our lives easier, we have less and less time to do what we really want.  And I mean important things like relaxing with our family and friends, caring for the kids, chauffeuring little ones, or reading the paper, just to mention a few.  With so much to do in so little time, no wonder we have no time to exercise.
Yet remember those important things on our list?  Health should be the number one concern.  And the positive impact exercise has on our health should make an exercise regimen the first thing we want to do on any given day.  Just 30 minutes a day, four to five times a week, can lower your risk of heart disease, breast cancer and osteoporosis; it can lower your stress level, your cholesterol level and shrink your waistline.  At the price of gas, you’ll even save money if you walk when possible.  But so many other things get in the way and we have so many excuses, we just don’t get to exercise.  The excuses I have heard are remarkable to say the least: it’s too hot, it’s too cold, it’s too dark, I’m too tired, I’m too busy,  I have to work, my daughter got engaged, I have to take my husband to his appointments where I sit in the waiting room for an hour, and much more.

Seriously, one television show, one phone conversation, three- to 10-minute spans of running, stair climbing, jumping rope, walking, or any kind of brisk movement can help us fit in an exercise program.  If time isn’t an issue, but motivation is, think of your loved ones who want you around for a while, think of someone who has lost their battle against cancer and would love to be able to exercise, think of your kids and what a great example you would be to them, and last but not least, think about how much you deserve to care about you.
