Beginning Monday, September 14, medical Qigong therapist, Carol Benitez will offer classes from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. that teach techniques to promote healthy living, vitality, and speed recovery from illness. Pronounced “chee-gung,” the phrase means loosely “practicing with life force.”
In Qigong, the ideal is to listen to the body and never to push the body to its limit, and the goal is to release negative emotions, stress, and strengthen the body’s internal organs and systems. Qigong has been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions, and is today becoming an accepted adjunct to improve the effectiveness of Western medicine. It can be practiced by all ages and all levels of physical stamina.
