Fillmore & Western Railway Co. is celebrating their seventh year of producing “Search for the Headless Horseman Family Dinner Trains.”  This year a huge fundraising event is planned on Thursday, October 15 to benefit Heart of A Horse foundation, a non-profit entity based in Moorpark.  Heart of A Horse is a foundation that seeks to promote the well-being of horses through educational campaigns that raise public awareness of horse rescues, that oppose horse abuse and horse slaughter, and that teach the public the basics of good horse care and training. The foundation is instrumental in assisting horse rescue organizations, providing shelter, boarding, care and feeding of those rescued horses and has a board of directors that reads like a who’s who of Hollywood, all equine-loving people.  The evening is promising a plethora of horse advocates, the mayor of Moorpark, the Ventura County Sheriffs Mounted Rescue Team, the Ventura County Animal Regulation Department, are just a few of the organizations and individuals that lend their support and presence to the evening.  Corral 126, a member of ETI, Equestrian Trainers Inc., is the group of riders who provide the live action entertainment on each and every Search for the Headless Horseman Dinner Train adventure.  ETI is also co-sponsoring the event with Fillmore & Western Railway Co.

“Search for the Headless Horseman Dinner Trains” are scheduled for October 9, 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30 in addition to the special fundraising event on Thursday, October 15.  After a 40-minute train ride to “Ichabog,” a private pumpkin patch, passengers will disembark and feast on a barbeque dinner, then hop on the hayride to “Search for the Headless Horseman.”

PumpkinLiners, a 45-minute train ride to “Ichabog” every Saturday and Sunday in October, is a great family day out.  Once at the pumpkin patch, explore the corn maze, take a hayride, dance onstage to the music of our DJ, have lunch in the barbeque area, find that perfect Jack-O-Lantern, hop on the carousel and browse the arts and craft vendor area, plus much, much more.
