The goal of esthetic dentistry is to transform an average smile into a terrific smile. To accomplish this goal, we analyze every aspect of the smile and then correct the problem.
Terrific smiles have several things in common:
• The teeth are straight, not crooked.
• The teeth are evenly spaced with no gaps.
• The teeth are white, not stained.
• The top teeth show when you smile, but not the gums.
• The gum line is smooth, not uneven.
• The edges of the top teeth smoothly follow the curve of the lower lip.
All of these problems can be solved with esthetic procedures, so even if you weren’t born with a beautiful smile, you can have one.
You need to come to the dentist and have a thorough exam including x-ray, photos, impression for study model, perio exam, soft tissue exam, and TMJ evaluation. Photos and a study model will give us an idea of how we can improve your smile. Beauty and cosmetics are very subjective matters. We can give an evaluation of your smile and prepare a diagnosis and treatment plan. This is based on recently developed concepts of cosmetic dentistry. You don’t have to accept the diagnosis and treatment plan if you don’t agree with the point of view or you can go ahead if you wish to achieve the same goal.
The goal can be satisfied by moving the teeth with orthodontic treatment and/or with restorations like porcelain veneers and crowns.
