The Santa Clarita Artist Association will hold its last 60 Minutes with an Artist on Sunday, November 22 at the Valencia Library Community Room from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. featuring guest speaker Scott Bruckner. Scott will be our 10th guest speaker and his art lecture will conclude this program. Sixty Minutes with an Artist started in February of this year and was a program created by Jaylene Armstrong to offer the public opportunities to have extended Art Education Learning in hearing how artists are inspired and create their paintings. Scott is a Contemporary Sculptor. He creates his sculpture from found objects, milled lumber, and copper. His work is free standing from six to eight feet in height.
Each piece is finished to become a part of a contemporary home. His images range from pieces titled: Smiles, Chaos, Blocks, Crescent Moon, Sunburst, Navajo, Flying Heart and one titled Wilson based from the movie Castaway.
Much of Scott’s work includes curved wood, which is retrieved from lumber retailers in warped condition, and then is treated and bent further for a dramatic affect. Scott has lived in Southern California most of his life, and continues to be an active member in the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association after serving as President for 2005 to 2006. During this time he was chosen for the Newsmaker of the Week, a television show presented by the SCV Press Club and Time Warner Cable hosted by Senior Editor Leon Worden. His work won the First Place Award for Sculpture in the independently judged 2003 and 2004 SCAA Art Classic as well as an award in the 2008 Art Classic for his piece titled, Crescent Moon.
Plan to come and be present for Scott’s lecture on Sunday, November 22 at the Valencia Library Community Room. It will be exciting to see some of Scott’s sculpture on display. Bring friends and enjoy meeting our 10th Art Lecturer who is a sculptor.
