For decades, school cafeteria food has received a bad reputation.  From greasy fries to pizza pockets that soar in the calorie department, school food has never been ideal for a student, at least, from the parent’s standpoint!  Thanks to a program called Santa Clarita Valley School Food Services Agency (SCVSFSA), parents of elementary school students can rest assured that their children are eating wholesome foods. The program aims to take foods that children love, and create a more nutritious and tastier version.  Gone are all the fried, artery clogging foods, and replacing them are desserts such as fresh and chilled fruit, or a whole grain, reduced fat, chocolate chip cookie per week.  For the past six years, the SCVSFSA has held a School Food Vendor Show, where parents and students can stop by and sample the newest, healthiest foods that will be served in the school cafeterias.  The food show was a hit, with students eagerly milling around tasting the newest additions to their lunch menus!
