Canyon Theatre Guild (CTG) will feature the art of Laurie Morgan, Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) president, in their hallway gallery from November 27 to December 19, 2009.  The exhibit will run concurrently with the performance of the holiday classic, Miracle on 34th Street, based on the movie of the same name.
A free artist’s reception will be held at the theater on December 9, between 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm.  The public is invited with RSVP to 661-259-6789.
“I paint in both oils and acrylics, depending on the subject matter.  Softer images like portraits and landscapes I prefer oils and with bolder subjects such as buildings and other architectural aspects I choose acrylics,” says Mrs. Morgan.  “Most of my paintings are renditions of photos taken on my travels around the world.  Many have windows or doorways, arches and pathways.  They represent to me adventure, surprise and spirituality.  I’ve always been a bit adventurous, spontaneous and continue to seek higher levels of spirituality.”
TimBen Boydston, Executive Director of CTG says of Mrs. Morgan, “It is unusual to have an artist like Laurie, who works in both the visual and performing worlds of art.  I have known Laurie for over 10 years and have had the pleasure of seeing her grow in both areas.  I believe that her work as a performer infuses her work as a painter with a vitality that is born out of the energy of performance.”
