Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? Hope instead of despair? If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.
The award program is named after Violet Richardson, the president of the first Soroptimist club in 1921. Richardson believed in personal responsibility and the motto: “It’s what you do that counts.”
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley is accepting applications for the Violet Richardson Award. There are three awards from our Club – $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place and $500 for third place.
Please contact Karen Ilich at 661-645-5643, or karen@travelcentersc.com for further information and an application – deadline is January 11, 2010.
