Special Features: The vehicle is a ‘70 1/2 because of a strike in late 1969 only allowed about six months worth of production. There were only 8733 Z-28’s built in 1970 with most being four speed cars. Air conditioning was not available on the Z-28’s in 1970 as the solid lifter engines revved too high and the air conditioning belt would not stay on. This particular car is rare due to it being a Z-28 with a split bumper, the RS (Rally Sport) option and an automatic transmission.
The “second generation” Camaro was always a favorite of Steve’s and while searching on E-Bay he came across this one, owned by a cotton farmer in Texas, who restored 1969 Camaros. The farmer acquired the 1970 in a trade. The usual bidding war took place but Steve was persistent enough to win the car. The car is in great shape and for now Steve enjoys driving and showing it at local events. Eventually, Steve says, he will start on a complete restoration of the car that he plans to “hold on to forever.”
