The City of Santa Clarita began installing eight directional signs on four local roadways today to assist the public in locating two of the most frequented commercial destinations in Santa Clarita. The signs are part of the City’s 21-Point Business Plan for Progress, which aims to boost the local economy and support business.
The signs are placed in medians along McBean Parkway, Valencia Boulevard, Magic Mountain Parkway, and near Bouquet Junction. The signage is designed to increase visibility for Westfield Valencia Town Center and the Valencia Auto Center – Santa Clarita’s two largest sales tax generators.
“The City is pleased to offer heightened visibility for, and ease of access to, two of Santa Clarita’s premier retail locations,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “These enhancements further position our City as one of Los Angeles County’s best shopping destinations.”
The median directional signs are the first phase of the ‘Business and District Improvements’ section of the City’s 21–Point Business Plan for Progress. The second phase will include beautification of Creekside Drive to enhance the car shopping experience and creating a safe and welcoming environment for customers. Some of these planned improvements include additional signage on Creekside Drive and landscaped pedestrian crosswalks to allow safe crossing from one dealership to another.
Funding for the directional signs was made possible through the City’s Landscape Maintenance District, for which funds are restricted to be used for the enhancement of landscaping, signage and other elements in the public right-of-way.
The Santa Clarita City Council approved the 21-Point Business Plan for Progress in April 2009 in an effort to strategically and proactively boost the local economy. For information and updates on the 21-Point Business Plan for Progress, visit Santa-Clarita.com/Recovery.
