I thought it would be a good idea to go over some suggestions to give you a few ideas on how you can begin planning your next painting project. Painting is still one of the most cost-effective ways to update your home, and selecting the right colors makes all the difference! Below are some examples of the color trends for 2010. Good Morning – A great way to add color to a bedroom or home office is by bringing in the colors of the morning. Imagine walking into a kitchen as the sun begins to rise and then seeing the fresh colors of the sun beaming into your home. Adding hues that are fresh, cheery and inviting can really make you feel right at home!
Color Recommendations: Honey-like hues such as tan or pale gold, coral, yellow and mineral grey
Good Night – Most California homes typically have one color painted on their ceilings: white. Why is that? It is the American classic look, right? Well, actually, years ago, it was quite popular to paint ceilings the same color as the walls or have the ceilings painted in a color other than white for a good contrast. To keep with the “Good Morning” trend, we recommend the “Good Night” color palette. Good Night hues can be used in a child’s bedroom, your master bedroom, baths with some natural lighting and even select family spaces such as a game room.
Color Recommendations: Pastel hues, particularly pale blue or shell pink for ceilings go with midnight blue, eggplant, and wine colored walls
Good Bye – If you are not planning on staying in your current home for a long period of time, then the Good Bye palette is best for you. This is where you will be painting over your navy blue ceilings back to white and going to a more traditional look and feel. You want to leave a potential homebuyer with a lasting impression when they walk through your home. Selecting colors that are neutral tend to be best. The Good Bye colors typically tend to not have a lot of color, though sometimes you can sneak in a few soft greens and blues in a bedroom. Color Recommendations: Khaki pared with crisp white or mid-toned blues, off-white or a sandy tan.
