With the required removal of automatic water softeners from the Santa Clarita Valley there have been many alternative water treatments introduced.  Some of them are new and claim different benefits that most cannot prove through any third party independent testing or certification/validation.  At the same time, most do employ Carbon Filtration as an integral part of their overall systems. Carbon Filtration as a water filtering modality is not new; rather it dates back to Egyptian times.  The process utilizes chemical adsorption.  Each piece of carbon is designed to provide a large section of surface area in order to allow contaminants the most possible exposure to the filter media.  One pound of activated carbon contains surface area of approximately 100 acres.
The carbon is generally activated with a positive charge and is designed to attract negatively charged water contaminants.  Carbon filters are most effective at removing chlorine, sediment and volatile organic compounds from water.  They are not effective at removing minerals, salts and dissolved inorganic compounds.  Typical particle sizes that can be removed by carbon filters range in size.  The efficacy of a carbon filter is also based upon the flow rate regulation.  When the water is allowed to flow through the filter at a slower rate, the contaminants are exposed to the filter for a longer period of time.
DuPure International includes an upgraded Carbon Filtration Element with EcoPur which also features ScaleStop which has been proven effective at reducing hard water scale and inhibiting its return.  ScaleStop number one was certified as being over 96 percent effective in hard water areas similar to the Santa Clarita Valley.  ScaleStop number two is an upgraded version of the certified version.
DuPure International is proud to be your Green Partner in the Santa Clarita Valley working to protect your home from the damaging effects of hard water scaling.
