Server: Would anyone care for dessert?
Guest: Dessert?  Let’s just take a look at the menu.
We all know this situation.  Everyone at the table comments on how full they are and how they can’t eat another bite, but when the server comes and asks whether anyone would like dessert; you find that there is always room for dessert, for good ones at least. I never really ate dessert until I got serious about cooking and decided to pursue my career as a chef.  Being a meat and vegetable person, I ate until I was full or stuffed at every meal.  Also being kind of a health nut since high school, I did not do much refined sugars or simple carbs.  But if I were to run my own restaurant and create the menu, I had to know how to make desserts, which lead me to eat dessert pretty much every time I went out for dinner or even lunch for that matter.
A great dessert can be the perfect finish to a meal.  I was always taught to make a great impression and to finish strong.  Following through is very important.  The appetizer and entrée may be great but a great dessert leaves the greatest impression.  The time and detail we spend to make your dining experience a good one applies to dessert as well.
Did you know we make our own ice creams and sorbets?  We take the fruit that is available from farmers market and puree them to make our sorbets as well as the flavorings for ice creams.  We bake our own cookies, shortcakes, and cheesecake. Additionally, we bake the cobblers, bread puddings, and chocolate cakes to order.  To order?  No wonder they take so long.  That is why you may find your server asking you in the middle of your meal whether you would like dessert because the mixing and bake time can be upwards of 20 minutes.  It’s worth the wait, but not something you want to do if you have to catch a movie down the street.
Come give our desserts a try.  You won’t regret it.  We even have a bowl of fresh fruit that I hand pick from the Santa Monica Farmers Market for you health nuts out there like me.  But, even I will partake in a cookie or something once in a while.
