And now, Egg Plantation is proud to announce they have earned the Two Star Certified Green Restaurant® seal! Working closely with the Green Restaurant Association, a national non-profit organization, Egg Plantation is thrilled to have completed their program and earn this certification, being Santa Clarita’s first and only certified green restaurant.
“We sought out this certification because we know restaurant have a huge environmental impact,” states owners Simon and Shannon. “Running a sustainable restaurant is important to us, and earning this certification helps us show our customers that our environmental efforts are real.”
The GRA’s program rewards restaurants with points in seven environmental categories: energy, water, waste, disposables, chemical and pollution reduction, sustainable food and sustainable building materials. For certification, restaurants must meet a rigid criteria including accumulating a total of 100 points, meeting a minimum of 10 points in six of the seven categories, have a full-scale recycling program, be free of polystyrene foam (styrofoam) and implement a yearly education program. To date, Egg Plantation has earned over 115 points within their program!
