It’s that time of year again.  Time to start getting ready to plant your garden.  With all of the rain that we have had, the soil is good and moist, but full of weeds.  We spent last weekend pulling weeds.  Next, we will add amendments to the soil and mix it in. I already have 10 pumpkin plants started.  I started them late in January and they are all doing great.  They are between four and five inches tall.  Last weekend I transferred them all to one-gallon containers.  We have a small green house that they are currently in to protect them from the cold.  By the end of April, beginning of May, I will put them in the ground.  One will go in my backyard garden, the same place as last year.  I will give one to my neighbor for her three boys to grow in their garden and the rest will be planted at my father-in-law’s ranch where there is plenty of room for them to spread out and grow.  I am excited as I attempt to grow an even bigger pumpkin than I did last year.
