With a bit of ole’ before kicking off holiday planning, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s Holiday Home Tour League will host a Cinco de Mayo-themed fashion show, luncheon, and membership drive at Valencia’s Tournament Player’s Club on Wednesday, May 5.
Open to the community, the festive event will offer a delicious Mexican buffet and a sneak peek at spring fashions, as well as the chance to learn more about the Holiday Home Tour League, which coordinates the popular Henry Mayo Holiday Home Tour each year in December.
“Anyone interested in the opportunity to support our local hospital should consider joining the Holiday Home Tour Committee. It’s a fun and rewarding way to give back to the community,” said Eva Murray, Holiday Home Tour League membership co-chair.
Since its inception in 1981, the Holiday Home Tour League has raised funds for women’s services at the hospital; since 2009, their efforts have been focused on the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, scheduled for completion in 2011.
Volunteer commitments can range from board positions to simply taking part in the Home Tour, a two-day event in December showcasing lavishly decorated local homes starting with the Gala on Friday evening and the Home Tour on Saturday with an accompanying Holiday Boutique.
The league has two general meetings per year, as well as monthly meetings, which are open to all members. In addition, there are luncheons and special trips, such as an outing to Pasadena Design Showcase Home, for members to enjoy throughout the year. Membership dues are $30 per year.
“The more members we have, the merrier,” Murray said. “Fresh ideas help to keep it fun and it makes our job much easier when we have a diverse pool of volunteers to draw from as the big event draws near.”
Henry Mayo Holiday Home Tour League Luncheon, Fashion Show, and Membership Drive will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 11 a.m. at the Tournament Player’s Club, 26550 Heritage View Lane, Valencia. Tickets are $25.
