We’ve been dreaming of a White Christmas…but we probably won’t get one here in the Santa Clarita Valley. It’s more likely to be sunny and hot with the unpredictable weather, lately. Yet don’t fret Bing Crosby fans, family and friends are what the Holiday Season is all about, whether or not it snows.
Of course, with family and friends comes the challenge of putting together an excellent holiday meal – but entertaining doesn’t have to be stressful. Here are some tips from La Via Bella, one of Santa Clarita’s best boutiques, for making your holiday dinner a rich and sophisticated affair.
•For a more modern Christmas feel, ditch the red and green and decorate your table with glamorous black glassware, gold shimmering decorations, understated foliage and plenty of champagne
• Go for atmospheric lighting – arrange glass votives over the table and at intervals around the room for a glowing environment. Create an elegant centerpiece by bunching some glass candlesticks together.
• Swap your usual tablecloth for a bright and shimmery runner trimmed with glittering beads.
• Decorate the mantle with evergreens like eucalyptus – it sets the scene and smells heavenly.
• If you are going for that traditional holiday look, use a brightly colored table linen. It will give your dining room an immediate Christmas feel and will serve as the perfect backdrop for your classic white china.
• Add some flair by using red garland to enhance your table and give your decor a bit of romance.
• Use some vintage or new silver ornaments to give your table more luster.
• In the mood for a more wintery look? Easy. Just use white, blue or light shades of purple and you’re on your way. Add some candles and ornamental snowflakes, or strands of clear beads and snowy white garland.
We hope you find inspiration in our festive ideas. Best wishes for a happy holiday – from all of us at La Via Bella.
