November 2, 2010… Make a Difference Day, America’s “National Day of Doing Good,” took place, Saturday, October 23.  During this largest single-day volunteer effort in the country, millions of people in communities across the nation woke up with a united purpose – to better their hometowns by helping their neighbors.  October 23, Santa Claritans lent their collective hand in the altruistic undertaking, hosted each year, by HandsOn Santa Clarita in partnership with the City of Santa Clarita.
Celebrating 10 years of Make a Difference Day here in Santa Clarita where over 2,300 volunteers participated in a variety of projects which were “hands-on” and produced visible positive results on this one-day.  Volunteers participated in projects ranging from food and clothing drives to landscaping, painting, clean-up, building repair and more.  There were over 59 community project sites, including activities supporting Carousel Ranch, Gibbon Conservation Center, SCV Senior Center and the Child and Family Center and more.  This year, Presenting Sponsor, ITT was also on hand participating in many projects all across town.
Since 1997, HandsOn Santa Clarita has been providing support and resources to meet the needs of the Santa Clarita Valley community.  They encourage volunteerism, promote philanthropy and build the capacity of local non-profit organizations by offering tools, training, networking, and connections to volunteers, groups, and businesses.
