Santa Clarita’s California Highway Patrol Office held one of their many Start Smart classes on Monday, November 15.  The CHP’s goals are to help new, young drivers and their parents understand the responsibilities that come with driving.  With shocking and graphic videos of car accidents, the Santa Clarita’s CHP office did their best to show the newly licensed and future licensed teenagers what poor choices behind the wheel can lead to.  The class discussion focused on first year restrictions, tips to be aware of while driving, and how irresponsible actions cause terrible effects and alter lives for everyone involved.  Many wide-eyed, young faces were seen in the free class on Monday, where everyone left with a new attitude towards driving on the road.
Officer Michelle Esposito and Officer Chris Cabral will conduct the next Start Smart class on Tuesday, December 7 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.  The class is entirely free and will be held at the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office located on the Old Road in Santa Clarita.
Attendees need to RSVP to the Newhall Area CHP station by calling 661-294-5540.  This is a one time free class, offered on a monthly basis.  For more information, visit http://www.chp.ca.gov/community/startsmart.html.
