The City of Santa Clarita’s Blue Ribbon Task Force is currently accepting names to be placed in the City’s Youth Grove located in Central Park. The deadline for submission is Friday, February 18, 2011.
The City’s Youth Grove is dedicated to Santa Clarita youth 24 years and younger who lost their lives in traffic-related incidents. The memorial site, a grassroots effort created by the City and its Blue Ribbon Task Force, provides a safe, centralized location for community members to remember loved ones.
“The City’s Youth Grove is designed to serve as a poignant memorial to the Santa Clarita teens who have lost their lives and to address this tragic issue of reckless driving,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
Those wishing to submit names to be added to the Youth Grove must complete a release form, available at santa-clarita.com/blueribbon or by phone at 661-250-3708. Completed forms should be mailed to the City of Santa Clarita, Community Services Division, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
The Blue Ribbon Task Force was formed in 2000 to educate parents and the community about alcohol, drug and tobacco use among Santa Clarita teens.
