The City of Santa Clarita and the Emergency Network of Los Angeles are conducting disaster plan training for faith based and non-profit organizations. The training will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church.
The training will assist organizations in developing or enhancing their disaster plans and emergency continuity of operations. Space is limited to 50 attendees.  The deadline to register is Friday, January 28, 2011.  Registration is available for up to two people per organization.
“These important trainings will give faith based and non-profit organizations the tools to build a more resilient and better-prepared disaster plan,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
The training will utilize a template developed for non-profit and faith-based organizations for disaster preparedness. Workshop topics include identifying potential hazards and threats, building evacuations, and preparations to make before, during, and after the disaster.
The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church is located at 22508 Copper Hill Drive in Santa Clarita.  For more information on the training please contact Donna Nuzzi, the City’s Emergency Services Supervisor, at 661-250-3721, or dnuzzi@santa-clarita.com.
