Last month we discussed how 2010 gave us two very important questions to ponder as we strive to make 2011 the best year to date. The reality is, 2010 brought some awesome learning experiences and opportunities for advancement in your life, and if evaluated properly will propel you into new territory that you never imagined could become a reality. The first question we asked ourselves was, “What worked for me in 2010?” If you look back over the last year, you did a lot of things right. There were many decisions that you had to make, many directions that you had to choose from, and many options that were presented to you and you nailed it. You managed to make the best decision for that moment. Of course, you probably discovered along the way that the best decision is not always the easiest decision. Yet, you did it. There are many decisions that you made in 2010 that just worked. They put the ball back in your court, they put you further down the road, they gave you peace of mind, they eased the tension or stress, they just worked. The process that allowed you to make the decisions of 2010 that you can be proud of should continue and even be enhanced throughout 2011. Continue to do what worked. On the other hand, we have our second question, “What did not work for me in 2010?” This is not a question to discourage you or bring you down. In fact, this is another way to discover how you were successful in discovering how things do not work. There are some decisions that we made in 2010 that just did not work for us. They did not enhance our lives, they did not cause any type of progression or productivity and they are not to be repeated in 2011. The truth is, in many areas of our lives, if we want to see something different, then we are going to have to do something different. If you can honestly answer the two questions that 2010 presented to you without any fear or apprehension of self-discovery then you are destined for the best year your life has ever seen.
