The sooner an infant or young child can restore a healthy attachment to a primary caregiver, the more likely the child can develop healthy emotional relationship capacities. Disrupted attachments can result in a myriad of problems from grief and loss to more serious disorders. Some infants and children are resilient and some are not. At Inner Circle Foster Care and Adoption Services, parents are taught the importance of childhood temperament, attachment theory, how to restore emotional bonding, and how to provide solid parenting skills. Training is available for foster/adoption families as well as the public.
Healthy relationships are important for people of any age. Research demonstrates that the more significant the personal attachment is, the better physical health a person maintains. Married and long-term couples show better health than people who are not engaged in ongoing relationships.
If you are interested in attending one of our workshops, please call Inner Circle and speak with Patti Claire at 818-988-6300, Ext. 212. Whether you would like to learn more about secure attachments or volunteer and be part of a dynamic organization, we welcome your interest.
