Yesterday we…
Cleaned out an oven and helped a lady put on her shoes.
We made scrambled eggs and wheat toast and helped a gentleman take his medications.
We brushed a woman’s hair and helped another fold some clothes.
We drove a widow to her husband’s gravesite and brushed away the leaves.
Yesterday we…
Polished the dining room table and played a game of cards.
We soaked some tired feet and gave seven baths.
We stopped by the cleaners on our way to the store.
Then, we told a telemarketer, “No thank-you, please remove her from your list.”
Yesterday we….
Baked lasagna and helped pick out a dress.
We took a couple to prayer meeting on a cold, damp night.
We changed sheets, and then revisited an old photo album with a grandfather who doesn’t remember quite as well as he used to.
Yesterday we…
Wrote a letter to a missions society for a lady with advanced arthritis then gave her a manicure and painted her nails.
We tucked someone into bed, double-checked the locks and said “You’ll be alright, good night, I’ll be back in the morning.”
Every day we sit at the feet of those who walked before us, the trailblazers who paved our pathways.
Everyday we get to hold the hands that built America, the bridges and highways, the schools and communities.
Well now those hands are wrinkled and sore, the feet less steady.
So in a war against the inevitable, we fight for the frail, those who were once mighty.
Dignity is our banner and compassion is our battle cry.
This is what we did yesterday, it’s what we’ll do today, and it’s what we’ll do tomorrow.
We’re Comfort Keepers In-Home Care… And every day we bring dignity to life!
