Numero Uno Pizza is known for casual fining and famous for it’s deep dish pizza.  Owner Daniel Lavalle says it’s a regular occurance for customers to inquire about purchasing the dough it’s so loved!  When I arrived at Numero Uno Pizza, it was nice to find such easy parking and lovely views.  Located on Bouquet Canyon Road, near IHOP and by Jill’s Cakes, Numero Uno is tucked away in a beautiful location with large windows that overlook a flourishing earthy coutryard.  It even offers a lovely little area for a stroll after your lunch or dinner.
After spending a few minutes looking over the restaurant and menu I was pleased to nice a fine assortment of beer and wine, along with great lunch specials!   Running Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and starting at just $3.50, you can enjoy a choice of an individual cheese pizza ($3.50), Italian feast for one: slice of cheese pizza, spaghetti and garlic bread with a dinner salad ($6.25), soup and dinner salad ($4.75), individual one topping pizza and dinner salad ($5.95), spaghetti and dinner salad ($6.25), full lasagna and dinner salad ($7.25), meatball sub, Italian link sub or a deli sandwich with a dinner salad ($6.45) and the Italian feast for two: a small cheese pizza, two small spaghetti’s and two dinner salads ($12.24).
With so much to choose from a such a great price, make Numero Uno your choice in delicious dining!  I was lucky to enjoy a modified Italian feast for one.  My dinner salad was so crisp and fresh I had to eat the entire thing. A promising start to any meal!  My favorite part are the pickled onions. They just add so much flavor and when the cherry tomato bursts in your mouth you can’t help but smile because there is an awesome party of flavor going on in your mouth.  The dressing is just the perfect amount and you will never find a pool at the bottom of your bowl.  Simply delicious!
My individual pizza was topped with all the veggies I love and I was so surprised when I took my first bite and everything was still crunchy… something I absolutely adore on my pizza.  I learned from owner Daniel Lavalle that every vegetable is cut fresh to order.  As I enjoyed my pizza I noticed how the crust was crisp yet fluffy and while it melted in my mouth, it supported a heap of vegetables and was topped with the perfect amount of cheese for each bite to be a “perfect” bite.  It was such a pleasure to speak with him and learn more about his passion for a great company and the people he loves here in Santa Clarita.  Daniel even remembers delivering to the owners of The Magazine of Santa Clarita  when he first started out with the company many years ago.  It’s such a blessing to know we live in a town where people remember eachother and the sense of community is so strongly supported throughout the valley.
Just when I thought I couldn’t eat any more, Daniel brought a heaping plate of spaghetti and garlic bread!  The first thing I noticed was the garlic bread – it was not greasy in the least bit.  I admit I kind of have a thing for garlic bread, and I really do not like greasy garlic bread.  My mom even makes a whole loaf of “less greasy” at my house at Sunday dinner because I am so adamant about it.  The Numero Uno garlic bread was crispy, warm and packed with great garlic flavor.  Dipped in the sauce it only becomes even more mouth watering and delicious.  The spaghetti was light, soft and had absorbed some of the sauce giving it a delicious falvor I much enjoyed.  The sauce is wonderful and maintains all the integrity of a great gravy – it let’s the tomato shine through. It is then enhanced with herbs that elevate it to exactly where it should be.  This dish would satisfy any hungry diner looking for the feel of home with the expectation of excellence.
With so much food packed into one lunch special, I can see why Numero Uno is the place to be for anyone looking for great food, wonderful atmosphere and excellent service.  If you haven’t had the chance to sample the delicious flavors of Numero Uno, what are you waiting for?
