Hello Comedy Fans!
On Monday, May 23 we will be having our second annual J.R.’s Comedy Club Celebrity Golf Classic. This will be the most fun you have ever had on the golf course. Each foursome will be playing with a nationally know comedian. There will be fun surprises on the golf course, and afterward there will be a huge banquet and comedy show with many of the comedians performing.
You may not know this, but the Homeless Shelter had its busiest year ever this year. For reasons unknown to me, they are forced to close the shelter every year on March 15. As you might remember, two days later, we had the biggest rainstorm in years. On March 16, the 58 people who had a warm bed the night before, were out in the pouring rain for three days.
All of the proceeds for our golf tournament will go toward the shelter. Our long-range goal is to have a year round shelter, and be able to provide transitional training to get people back on their feet. You can have a lot of fun and make a big difference in many ways. We are still looking for sponsors and golfers. We need donations for the silent auction and live auction. If you have a hair salon, a pet-grooming salon, a car detail business, if you teach music lessons, donate at a free session and pull in a new ongoing customer. We need your help. We also have tickets for the diner and banquet for those of you who would like to help, but don’t play golf. Those tickets are $75 each and include dinner and the comedy show.
We also produce a series called Humor Helps to raise money for the shelter, and all of the comedians donate their talent for the cause.
