Italian cuisine is renowned for its ability to transform a mere meal into a truly unforgettable experience. Every day across the Italian countryside, chefs are constantly reinventing classic dishes using ingredients found in their own back yards. The Italian culture focuses on cultivating the creativity of their dishes from what is available and in-season, this of course producing the famous fare where flavors come together to make “magic.” Memorable, mouth-watering dishes are born from these fresh, seasonal ingredients. At Piccola Trattoria we strive to keep this long-standing tradition, and to focus our Specials menu on “in-season” produce—creating dishes that infuse the traditional ingredients of Italian cooking with fresh produce from our own backyard.
During the month of May, you will find our menu full of dishes including risottos, homemade ravioli, pastas, salads, and soups made from fresh asparagus, artichokes, and zucchini. We excitedly welcome the beginning of the tomato season by creating dishes that bring out the flavor in the ripest, juiciest tomatoes we can find. Fresh Panzanella salad made from ripe tomatoes, cucumbers and extra virgin olive oil, or the Caprese made with fresh Mozzarella cheese in water layered in between tomato slices and topped with basil. For dessert—a sweet finish—fresh berries atop some of our most classic desserts like vanilla infused Panna Cotta, and creamy mousse in a variety of flavors. Our ever-changing dessert menu features some of the sweetest and in-season fruit in the area.
The spring and summer seasons are truly our favorites as it lends a chance for us to take traditional dishes featuring homemade pastas along with fresh meats and seafood, and allows us to incorporate the best of the season’s fruits and vegetables—creating a memorable dining experience.
