Not many people experience the death of a child; fewer yet face the possibility of having to do it twice. In her new memoir, Blood Brothers, Santa Clarita resident and author Lisa Solis DeLong shares what it has been like to have two sons with leukemia, a lifetime apart. As she struggles to understand how a loving God could allow this to happen, she searches for a way to keep her marriage, her family, and her own sanity together.
The book reveals what happened when DeLong’s bright and energetic firstborn son, Justin, was diagnosed with leukemia at age five. After battling the cancer, he went into remission for ten years, but sadly succumbed to the disease just after his fifteenth birthday in 2000. The family was left to pick up the pieces and try to find joy in life without him. Then, six years later, the DeLongs discovered something terrifying—their youngest son, Jacob, had leukemia too.
The story of these two Blood Brothers will speak to readers’ hearts and allow them to see how with faith, great triumph can come from unimaginable tragedy.
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available at bookstores nationwide and can be ordered through the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore or by visiting www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com.
