So why would a group of people want to wallpaper oversized children’s faces onto a 130‘x18‘ surface?  It certainly is a big job that takes much effort, coordination and an army of volunteers.
Well it’s no secret that the ARTree believes in spreading its message and planting seeds concerning the arts in the Santa Clarita Valley.  Sometimes the only way to communicate a message is to do it in a big way.  The ARTree believes that creativity in children is essential to helping them become productive and passionate citizens, who care about their community and helping others.
The wall is “Ever-Changing” in that it will change and deliver a message from different groups asking for their voices to be heard in regard to the need for arts education in this valley.  We start with posting 12 feet tall faces of 13 local children.
The location is Railroad Avenue in Newhall at the property of Joseph Jasik the owner of German Auto Haus who generously donated his wall and the majority of the funds for this project.  Without his help and cooperation this project would not be possible.  The commuter traffic reaches 40,000 people per day, and what a better way to deliver a message than on a giant wall!
The Ever-Changing Wall is a concentrated effort from The ARTree in partnership with, The Boys and Girls Club and The Newhall Community Center.  Community volunteers offering their talents: Roy Juan owner of Roy Juan Design, Mel Carll owner of Santa Clarita Valley Center for Photography, Adrian Rodriquez owner of Wrapture Graphics and last, but not least, Ralph Nielsen, the project director and the driving force behind this project.
The wall will cover a large area with a photographic message of hope; hope that someday the children of this valley will be heard.  By photographing faces of children, they feel they have a voice in what must be said, “Arts education is important to us.”
The ARTree is honored to receive support from the following individuals and businesses David Veal, Aurora Harris of The Harris Law Firm, Oscar Dominguez of Union Bank, Jim and Bobbi Jean of Outwest, Raul and Dora Bojorquez of El Trocadero, Tim Ben Boydston of Canyon Theatre Guild, Tim and Laurie Crissman of Crissman Commercial Services.
