It was a fun filled evening of delicious appetizers and fine wine at the Breast Cancer Awareness Wine Tasting at Salt Creek Grille on October 6. Funds raised on the night of the event will benefit the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation and Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center, to help raise awareness of the importance of mammograms for early breast cancer detection. The annual fundraiser will also help raise funds to purchase technology designed to improve outcomes for women undergoing breast reconstructive surgery as a result of breast cancer. The wi-fi enabled ViOptix T.Ox™ Tissue Oximeter measures the oxygen flow in transplanted tissue and transmits the data to any internet accessible device including PDAs, smart phones and personal computers to help clinicians quickly identify potential tissue health risks and initiate appropriate intervention.
Since its inception in 2003, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center has provided more than 73,000 screenings and found 539 breast cancers through mammograms and diagnostic exams. The breast imaging center’s life-saving services wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the Santa Clarita Valley community. To schedule your mammogram, please call 661-253-8822.
