The AYSO Girls U-16 league soccer team from Castaic, otherwise known as Chivas Castaic, recently spent the evening watching their namesake team, Chivas USA, battle hometown rivals L.A. Galaxy at The Home Depot Center in Carson. Last month, Chivas Castaic emerged from the season and will enter area playoffs as the 1st place Girls U-16 team in the Santa Clarita area with five wins, two losses, and one tie. They’ve scored 24 goals thus far with 12 goals scored against them for a total of 55 points. “There are a lot of great GU16 teams in the Santa Clarita area” says their coach, Dan Donihue. “I know each one of them has their eye on winning area playoffs and moving on to sectional playoffs in Visalia. Our goal is to take it one training session, one match, and one play at a time. I’m very proud of what Chivas has done so far. They’re an amazing group of girls.”
