On Tuesday, December 13, members of Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley presented a check to the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital NICU and Shiela R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center in the amounts of $8, 333 and $7,500. The money is a donation from the Wine Affair… Sip, Stroll & Savor the Sounds event held on October 16, 2011. 
“As Soroptimist our mission is to improve the lives of women and girls locally and around the world. How exciting is this that with our local donation to the NICU and Shiela R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center we are in the position of not just helping women, but saving lives. We are so proud of our hard work with such events such as the Wine Affair that enables us to do that. We are truly thankful to our sponsors, attendees, committee members and everyone involved who puts so much effort into producing these events. The money raised allows us help others, but the true gift is the spirit of service, ” said Sue Reynolds, SIGSCV President.
Local donations are vital in support of the Hospital and the services available to the residents of our City.
“The generous financial gifts from the Soroptomists International of the Greater SCV will be used to provide many wonderful services for the women of this valley. Their donations will help fund equipment to monitor successful breast reconstruction after cancer surgery as well as enable Henry Mayo to care for this valley’s tiniest fragile patients in the new Neonatal ICU.
