The Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (DVCAP) was officially launched on February 1. Advocates are available to assist victims of Domestic Violence as they navigate the court paperwork and the court system. The DVCAP program is a cooperative program with Soroptimist International of Greater SCV, Soroptimist International of SCV, the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley and the Santa Clarita Domestic Violence Center. Information on the program can be found on the website, www.scv-dvcap.org. There is a “contact us” page on the website. Advocate services can also be requested by phone, 661-388-0252. This program was developed at a joint Zonta- Soroptimist meeting when, the then Presiding Judge Frexies, informed the group that these services were extremely valuable and needed, as the services were not available in the Santa Clarita Courthouse at that time. So if you are a victim and need someone to assist you at this time, contact the advocates and let them know of your need.
