Spring is in the air in the Heritage Valley.  The orange trees are adorned in their white coats of blossoms and the fragrance is intoxicating.  Come ride the Fillmore & Western Railway train and enjoy an unusual excursion that will awaken your senses. Onboard our vintage train, you will “see” nature in all her glory reflected in the orange, lemon and avocado groves, and the stately mountain peaks that tower over the peaceful valley floor.  Listen to the bees as they buzz about working feverishly to fulfill their natural function.
Every Saturday and Sunday, year-round, Fillmore & Western offers daytime scenic excursions aboard the vintage train.  The train departs at 12 p.m. each day and returns at 4 p.m.  The first Sunday of each month, our 1913 Baldwin Steam Engine powers the train.  The Powhatan dining car is available for sandwiches, snacks, salads and soups during the weekend rides on a first-come, first-serve basis.  We also offer a “Heritage Valley” hot lunch for groups of 25 people or more in their own private dining car with advance reservations.
“Throw Mama On the Train” is celebrating Mother’s Day on May 13, with two departures, one at 11 a.m. and the other at 3 p.m.  Give mom the day off and treat her like the “Queen” she is.
The locomotives and railcars of Fillmore & Western Railway Co. were all manufactured before 1950, and comprise the largest private collection owned by an individual west of the Mississippi.  Most of the movies, television or commercials you see featuring a train were filmed using one of Fillmore & Western Railway Co. pieces of rolling stock, (the industry term for railcars), therefore our motto is “Home of The Movie Trains”.  Taking a trip on one of our trains is very nostalgic for most seniors, whose primary mode of transportation during the first half of the 20th century was riding on a train.
