Am I the only one who looks back in the past and think, “what if”?  I have quite a few what ifs in my past.  I am sure we all do.  Of course, we cannot go back and change what has already happened, but we can change how we look at the future.  A little while ago, I decided to venture out more. No, not jumping out of planes.  For the most part though, I have become a yes man.  Just like the movie starring Jim Carrey.  I now will say yes to things that in the past, was outside my comfort zone.  So why do I bring this up?  I am glad you asked, because a couple months ago something totally out of the box happened.  I usually get a few emails every month commenting on my articles, and I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to write me.  One email in particular did not comment on my article.  This email was inviting me to be a part of a Gala.  Not just any Gala, it was a fundraiser for a great cause.  I was very honored to even be considered for this, and at first I was thinking should I or shouldn’t I.  Then I remembered I am a yes man, and agreed to do it. The event was put on by the SISCV, which stands for Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita.  They called it Gentlemen for a Cause, because they were actually auctioning off gentlemen for different things.  Most guys were giving eight hours of work for free.  There was a painter, dentist, plumber, personal trainer, guitar lessons, etc., and of course me.  I was offering a date night at the Odyssey.  I arrived at the Gala ready to go, and anyone who knows me, knew that it just would not go smoothly.  Of course I wasn’t there five minutes, when I sat at a table with a couple nice ladies.  Then one got up and introduced her self, and as I got up and reached over to shake her hand, I knocked over a margarita right into her lap.  Yeah, that was pretty smooth.  She could not have been nicer about it, and I could not apologize enough.  Now that I got that out of the way it was time for the auction.  Women were bidding feverishly, and then it was my turn.  I was really nervous, and when it was over, a very nice lady had won the date with me.  I have to say the date at the Odyssey was one of the best.
