The City of Santa Clarita hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 28, to celebrate the completion of the Lyons Avenue / Interstate 5 beautification project.

The beautification project installed approximately three acres of landscape enhancements along the Lyons Avenue and Interstate 5 corridor, including: decorative fencing, hardscape and landscape improvements, and water efficient irrigation.  Using a variety of grasses, oak trees and shrubs consistent with the oak tree savanna look traveling through the Newhall Pass area, the core of the planting will remain green year long, while other aspects of the landscaping will change with the seasons.  The landscape design along Lyons Avenue and Interstate 5 is certified and compliant with Assembly Bill 1881, the state law regarding water efficiency.  The City is committed to taking aggressive steps to be a leader in the industry by implementing new irrigation technology to reduce the community’s water consumption while keeping areas beautifully landscaped.
