A musical treat for young and old, the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, is coming to the Santa Clarita Valley for one night only!  On Wednesday, November 7, the West Ranch High School Music Department will proudly present, the most sought after Big Band in the world, the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

The estate of Glenn Miller authorized the formation of the current Glenn Miller Orchestra back in 1956, due to the strong demand created by the box office hit, The Glenn Miller Story, starring Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson. The band has been touring around the world ever since, averaging 300 live dates a year, playing to millions of fans.
According to Brian Leff, Director of Jazz Studies at West Ranch High School, this special event will be a fun and nostalgic evening for our local senior citizens, and a great opportunity for music students, particularly those in the Hart District’s Jazz programs, to experience a professional Big Band concert.
Directed by Nick Hilscher, and featuring vocalist Eileen Burns, the Glenn Miller Orchestra will present a selection of material from the vast GMO Library, which includes compositions from the original band and Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force Band.  The program for the evening may include favorites such as In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Tuxedo Junction, Chattanooga Choo-Choo, Rhapsody in Blue, At Last, Stardust, and Pennsylvania 6-5000.
With the concert scheduled just days before Veteran’s Day, the band has also indicated they will include several patriotic and military songs, as a special tribute to our local military vets.  With respect to those in our community who have served, tickets will be discounted for veterans and military personnel.  There will also be a discount for senior citizens and students.
Tickets will go on sale in early October at various locations across Santa Clarita, including Nick Rail Music, 18718 Soledad Canyon Road in the Canyon Country Edwards Cinema Complex, and Juice It Up, 28164 Newhall Ranch Road in the Highridge Crossing Center.  Discount ticket prices start at just $15, with General Admission from $20 to $25, if purchased in advance.  Ticket prices at the door will be slightly higher.
Sponsorship opportunities are available.  Please contact Brian Leff, Director of Jazz Studies, West Ranch High School, 661-222-1220 ext. 645, bleff@hartdistrict.org.  For updated concert information, go to www.westranchmusic.com.  Come experience why “The Miller Sound Lives Forever®!”
