Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers’ 10th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival made a big splash in Bridgeport Park on October 27, when joined by hometown Olympic athletes returning from the 2012 London Games.

Mayor Pro Tem Bob Kellar and Councilwoman Marsha McLean presented ceremonial Keys to the City to Alysia Montano (Track and Field, 800 meters), Lashinda Demus (Track and Field, 400 meter hurdles, silver medal), and Rick Smith, father of David Smith who is currently competing in France (Men’s Volleyball). More than 1,000 people turned out for the health centers’ signature event and over 3,000 rubber ducks raced in regattas. This year’s Rubber Ducky Festival raised over $90,000, all proceeds going toward patient care in Santa Clarita. Over $5,500 in donated prizes were awarded, including a grand prize $2,500 gift certificate in Southwest Airlines travel.
