About 575 people donned their western duds and converged on LARC Ranch in Bouquet Canyon for its October 14 fundraiser, a Country Western Carnival featuring live music by The Lucky Stars and old-fashioned carnival games.

“It was a great success,” says Kathy Sturkey, executive director of the nonprofit LARC, which provides residential and day program services to developmentally disabled adults. “Everyone had an awesome time while helping LARC Ranch continue coping with the financial uncertainties our state faces.”
David Perry, representing L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, presented Sturkey and LARC (www.larcfoundation.org) with a commendation from the supervisor. A day later, at the Commission on Disabilities Annual Luncheon, Antonovich honored Sturkey for more than 40 years of service to people with disabilities.
“We really appreciate the recognition from Mr. Antonovich and his office,” Sturkey said. “They truly understand why we’re passionate about LARC and its mission to help developmentally disabled adults thrive.”
