Many local junior high and high schools are taking advantage of Wendy’s of Santa Clarita’s key tag program to actively assist in raising much-needed funds for their schools.  Since last May, guests at any of the four Santa Clarita Wendy’s restaurants have been buying special key tags for a dollar each.  The dollar goes to the Hart District school that the guest designates, and the key tag entitles the holder to a free Junior Frosty with every purchase until school lets out next summer.

Students are now competing for a $500 additional cash prize that Wendy’s is offering to two schools: the one that sells the most key tags and the school that sells the most by percent of enrollment.  So even smaller schools like Bowman and Academy of the Canyons have a chance to win big.  So far, Golden Valley High School is leading the pack in absolute sales with Bowman High School leading in percent of enrollment.  The most recent key tag standings are as follows:

The 2011-2012 school year raised over $10,000 for all Hart District schools.  This year’s effort is expected to raise even more money.  “We are excited to see the students, parents and members of the community participate and share the fundraiser with their friends.  We know that the need for more funding for the junior high and high schools is significant, but we were happy to help everyone.  A pre-school recently inquired about the program and we worked with them to set it up there, too, “ said Wendy’s of Santa Clarita owner Rob Montgomery.  “Supporting education and athletics are both strong affinities for Wendy’s and being able to give specifically to our community is something that all of us at Wendy’s of Santa Clarita are very proud of,” said Montgomery.
