It was a beautiful evening as guests arrived at the Valencia United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 21 for the Daniel Pearl World Music Days concert, featuring talented young musicians in the SCV. In addition to performances from E.S.C.A.P.E. Theatre, the Canyon High School Madrigals, and other local musicians, Kelsey Taylor welcomed nationally renowned young pianist Rio Mangini.

“We had so many people supporting this event,” states Belinda Taylor, parent of Kelsey and Jeffrey Taylor. “Academy of the Canyons ASB provided artwork and the programs, Mom2Mom hosted a reception following the event, LA Center Studios captured the event on film and will provide each participant a DVD, Pastor John Shaver spoke and opened the doors of the church to promote cross cultural understanding, Rabbi Mark Blazer spoke and introduced Dr. and Mrs. Pearl. Councilmember Marsha McLean spoke, and we had a special guest from Burundi so it was an event that truly did join the largest Symphony in the world to promote ‘Harmony for Humanity.’”

Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an international network of concerts that use the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity.  For more information, visit www.worldmusicdays.org.
