It was an evening of remembering as community members gathered to honor soldiers who have sacrificed for our country and our freedoms.  The Santa Clarita City Council hosted an open house reception on  Wednesday, December 12, to pay tribute to the Santa Clarita Gold Star families and soldiers who are commemorated on a Christmas tree in the lobby of City Hall.

The Gold Star tree was designed by Heather Sandness and initially sponsored by Cobra Tactical as part of the annual Festival of Trees fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley.  The Gold Star Tree is located at City Hall and is currently sponsored by Mayor Bob Kellar and the City of Santa Clarita, Larry Rasmussen, the Auto Dealers Association and Gary Condie.  The evening included a message from Mayor Kellar and light refreshments.
