After over a month without an urgent care and family practice clinic, the Smyth Medical Plaza welcomes Valencia Medical Care, which opened its doors January 14. The fully-equipped medical clinic offers both urgent and continuous care for patients of all ages.
Valencia Medical Care is owned by Dr. Steve Yi, who has been serving the patients of Santa Clarita for several years. He also employs two Physician Assistants, Emily Wandel and Jessica Cromsigt.
Dr. Steve Yi, MD is a dedicated physician who has genuine concern for the welfare of his patients. He enjoys teaching his patients to live a healthy lifestyle through exercise, proper diet, and routine physicals. He enjoys doing minor procedures and preventive medicine. He finished his Family Medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He was the chief resident and he also received the Eldon Bergland Award for his dedication to his patients, as well as to his fellow residents.
Emily Wandel was licensed as a Physician Assistant in 2005 after graduating from Butler University. Her experience includes over 10 years in family practice, urgent care, nephrology, and emergency medicine. Her main objective when meeting with a patient is to listen and treat them how she wants to be treated. Emily is passionate about women’s wellness and preventive care. She enjoys seeing all ages of patients from infants to senior citizens. Emily recognizes the importance of the teaching and learning process, and believes that being a preceptor for PA students from multiple PA programs allows her the opportunity to give back to a profession that gives her so much.
Jessica Cromsigt, MPAS, PA-C was raised in the small California mountain community of Pine Mountain Club and attended Saugus High School as a teenager. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Biology and competed on a lightweight rowing team. After graduation, she worked as both a medical assistant and an emergency medical technician. She went on to earn a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the California Physician Assistant Board. She is excited to be back home serving patients in Santa Clarita.
