Ma Maison is so excited to have moved from Valencia to downtown Newhall on Main Street. Our little neighborhood down here has such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. You would not believe how darling the area has become and it is only improving daily. Some of you may remember the good old days in Newhall when this area was a bustling center of town for the entire Santa Clarita Valley.
Back in the day, there was Newhall Hardware, the drugstore on the corner with a soda fountain, and Mahogany & Chiffon clothing boutique. Then, sadly, there was so much growth happening in the Valley that this part of town was forgotten.
Now, with the improvements to the street sidewalks, parking and plant life, the appearance of Downtown Newhall has greatly improved. Some of the building owners have refaced their storefronts and many small business owners are grabbing the opportunity for affordable rent situations. The nostalgia of a small downtown area is infectious and many more positive changes are on the horizon. The simple charm of the Postman bringing us our mail every day brings a smile to our face.
There are going to be many events and promotions to garner attention for the area and we invite everyone to join us on Saturday, March 9 for a Downtown Newhall Block Party from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be the first of a quarterly event that will offer free transportation on the old fashioned SCV Trolley all around Main Street. The trolley will be circling around Main Street and the yellow Victorians with convenient on and off stops at many of the local small businesses for patrons to freely experience the downtown area and all of the offerings. Participating stores will be serving refreshments and there will be a passbook that customers can complete to win a gift basket valued at $300. This is great opportunity to cover the area conveniently.
Ma Maison is easy to find, right on Main Street (in both Newhall and Ventura). In Newhall we are across the street from the live theatres in an adorable green building that looks like a house, and yes, we still have our signature hot pink bougainvillea out front!
