Friday, March 1, Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys (SF/SCV) raised over $250,000, netting over $210,000 for their special Habitat for Heroes veterans program at their annual Habitat Hearts for Heroes Builders Ball. This year’s event honored the Southern California Gas Company, a Sempra Energy Utility and Carl and Jeri Goldman of KHTS AM 1220 with the elite Hammer of Hope Award for sponsoring this first-of-its-kind project.

After hearing four testimonials from different low-income veteran families approved to move into the veteran enriched neighborhoods being built by Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV in collaboration with the California Department of Veteran Affairs in Santa Clarita and Sylmar, guests raised their bid paddles and bid on auction items to help raise enough money to build more homes for veteran families.
Veterans or families of the fallen wishing to apply for a home in this community should contact Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV at 818-884-8808 or visit HabitatSCV.org.  Corporations, community organizations, and individuals wishing to donate to these efforts or learn more about neighborhood, park, street, and garden naming opportunities should call Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV or email Sarah Steffen at ssteffen@humanityca.org
