Two years ago I wrote an article about The Ever-Changing Wall – a wall that communicated the need for arts throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. It defined who The ARTree was. We partnered with a number of community organizations and we created something memorable.
The concept of The Wall was successfully implemented.
Now it’s time to move to the next concept and its production.
Once again, we are involving children from The Newhall Community Center and the Boys and Girls Club to help implement this project.
When the public saw The Wall, The ARTree got excited. The Wall became a topic of conversation among members of the Santa Clarita community. The “blank canvas” (as the space was called before we erected The Wall) was donated by Joseph Jasik, owner of the building where the “blank canvas” looked out on Railroad Avenue. When Joseph experienced the production effort and saw the finished mural, he got excited and wanted to spread the word of what The ARTree accomplished. It is this enthusiasm from both Joseph and the SCV community that inspires The ARTree to continue the first mural’s young legacy.
This new mural will once again visually depict children- the faces of children will symbolize youthful intelligence, honesty, and beauty.
Unlike the first Wall, the life expectancy of the vinyl mural is beyond five years. The overall height will be 12 feet spread over three panels with a total length of 150 feet covering three walls.
Now The ARTree needs to raise awareness and funds for this new Wall. We now have this project on Kickstarter, which is a website that helps organizations such as ours raise funds for projects they are passionate about. We invite you to take a look and help us reach our goal. You can find it at Kickstarter.com, and search for The Ever-Changing Wall or under Art Projects.
We, at The ARTree, know that those involved with this wonderful project will once again help us create “Community Engagement Through The Arts.”
